Programs at Discovery Creek
Children's Museum of Washington encourage scouts to experience, appreciate,
and become stewards of the natural environment. Operating out of two sites,
the Museum offers scouts exciting outdoor environmental programs, many of which
meet badge requirements.
Programs:
Animal Architects (60 or 90 min.)
Location: Schoolhouse
Why are animal homes important? Meet live animal builders and discovery the amazing structures that
animals weave, burrow, shape, and sculpt as your hike along the Museum's forest.
Brownies: Watching Wildlife; Tigers: Lets go Outdoors; Bears: Sharing Your
World With Wildlife
Helping Hands (90 min.)
Location: Glen Echo and Schoolhouse
Do you have what it takes to tackle teamwork challenges? Come learn about cooperation
in the animal kingdom as Discovery Creek puts you to the test.
Science in Action (90 min.)
Location: Glen Echo and Schoolhouse
Science springs into action as Discovery Creek takes you on an exceptional scientific escapade.
Research rockets, check out kitchen chemistry and become an animal expert during this action-packed program.
You Are Here (90 min.)
Location: Glen Echo and Schoolhouse
Come learn how to use maps, compasses, and landmarks
to navigate your way. Compare how different navigational systems help guide
animals and humans by directing them to their destinations.
Juniors: Finding
Your Way
Scouts are also welcome to choose
from any of the School Programs offered at specific Discovery Creek locations.
Program Details:
- Program (for up to ten scouts) costs $100.
Each additional scout is $10.
- 60- or 90-minute programs are offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:00 pm or 4:00 - 5:30 pm.
- Programs take place from October through May.
- At least one chaperone is required for every ten scouts.
- There is no additional charge for adults.
